Native Hides
Native Hides was created from a simple idea: to find a better use for one of the most beautiful parts of British cattle.
Having bred and finished Belted Galloway and Hereford cattle for many years, we were increasingly frustrated that there was no way to make use of their hides. Our cattle are born and raised in the UK and supplied to our sister company, Tunstall Meat Company, so seeing such a beautiful part of the animal go to waste simply didn't sit well with us.
We believe in responsible farming and making the most of the whole animal, so we began having hides professionally tanned with the hair left intact. Many of our rugs come from our own herd, and we also select hides from other British farms that share our standards. Native Hides gives these hides a second life as beautiful, one of a kind cowhide rugs.
Every hide is unique, naturally shaped and completely individual, and each one can be traced back to the farm where it was raised. Our British cowhide rugs combine natural character with timeless style, creating a distinctive piece for the home while making better use of a valuable part of the animal.
